Farmers Market: The Buzz About Bees

Student installs new beehive

U of U student Kirstie Kandaris, vice president of the U of U Beekeepers Association, installs a new beehive at the Marriott Library.

It’s The Buzz About Bees day tomorrow at the U of U Farmers Market! The U of U Beekeepers Association will offer tours of the honeybee hives in the Union and provide information about beekeeping, how to grow a bee-friendly garden, and how to get involved on campus. Tours start at 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, and 1:30 pm. Meet at the Market Managers booth.

Rain or shine, the market goes on! There are only a few Thursdays left until the end of the season so stock up on peaches and purchase some locally made honey from The Honey Stop.

The Farmers Market links local growers, food producers, artisans, and local non-profits with the campus community and visitors for a fun and tasty weekly event. Come join us for another year to enjoy a great selection of fresh produce and foods from local businesses. Market highlights include the student-run Edible Campus Gardens produce booth and the University Dining Services’ popular lunch stand. New amenities to the U of U Farmers Market in 2013 include bicycle valet parking courtesy of Commuter Services and a veggie valet produce storage service courtesy of University Dining Services. The market is in its 6th year.

The Farmers Market runs from 10 am to 2 pm on Thursdays until October 10 in Tanner Plaza between the Union and Student Services Building.
